Night Supervision

Overnight staff in the person's own home to monitor safety and respond to needs.

Night Supervision

Night supervision is a basic support service under Minnesota Statutes 245D.03 and is defined under the BI, CADI, CAC, and DD waiver plans. A trained staff member is present in the person's own home overnight to monitor health and safety and respond when the person needs help — so the person can live in their own home instead of a staffed residential setting. Whether staff stay awake or sleep is set in the coordinated support plan.

What's included

  • Staff present in the home during overnight hours, awake or asleep as authorized
  • Monitoring and response for falls, seizures, wandering, and medical alarms
  • Assistance with toileting, repositioning, mobility, and getting back to sleep
  • Support with the evening and morning routine at the start and end of the shift
  • Documentation and a clear handoff to the daytime support team and family
