Respite Care — In-Home or Out-of-Home

Respite care services are defined in Minnesota Statutes 245A.02, subdivision 15, as temporary services provided because the primary caregiver is absent or needs relief, at the level of supervision and care necessary to ensure the person's health and safety. Respite is a basic support service under 245D.03 and is available in the person's own home or in an approved out-of-home setting. By definition, respite does not include services directed toward training or habilitation.

What's included

• In-home respite — staff come to the person's home while the caregiver is away or resting
