Semi-Independent Living Services (SILS)

Semi-independent living services are an in-home support service under Minnesota Statutes 245D.03 and are established in Minnesota Statutes 252.275, which defines SILS as "training and assistance in managing money, preparing meals, shopping, maintaining personal appearance and hygiene, and other activities which are needed to maintain and improve an adult with developmental disability's capability to live in the community." Eligible people must be age 18 or older, unable to function independently without SILS, and not at risk of placement in an intermediate care facility in the absence of less restrictive services.
