Specialist Services

Clinical consultation and staff training from licensed specialists to support a person's plan.

Specialist Services

Specialist services are an intervention support service under Minnesota Statutes 245D.03, subdivision 1(c), and are defined under the BI, CADI, CAC, and DD waiver plans. A licensed or qualified specialist — for example a behavior analyst, psychologist, mental health professional, or licensed therapist — evaluates a specific need, recommends strategies, and trains the people who support the person day to day, so expert guidance is carried into everyday routines.

What's included

  • Assessment and clinical consultation for a specific behavioral, mental health, or medical need
  • Written recommendations and support strategies added to the coordinated support plan
  • Training and coaching for direct support staff, family, and other caregivers
  • Follow-up consultation to adjust strategies as the person's needs change
  • Coordinated with the case manager and the person's treating professionals
